Happy Easter!!!

I hope you all have a wonderful Easter tomorrow.

We spent the day dying eggs here. We started out with 24 eggs. But with help from the trusty hands of my 3 year old we eventually got around to coloring 16 beautiful eggs. We had so much fun. I love holidays that involve crafts. Broken eggs and all.

Our lovely eggs. The polka dotted one is my favorite, surprised? I love how all of our eggs turned out.

Max ready to dye Easter eggs, he loved watching the tablets fizzle in the vinegar.

He was so proud of the final product. I wish we could dye Easter eggs every day.

My first ever chair makeover

I have turned into a bargain hunter. My new favorite blog Life in the Fun Lane has inspired me to find junk and make it beautiful. My first junk piece to makeover was a $5 chair I found at the local Habitat for Humanity store. I forgot to take a picture of the original but here it is primed and ready for paint.

I chose a pretty blueish-green color for the chair. I'm actually considering painting my entire kitchen this color now. I found this small can of paint on the mis-tint rack at Lowe's this weekend and fell in love. It was marked $2.50, but for some reason the little old man ringing me up gave it to me for 1/2 off. So I got my perfect paint for $1.25. Yay! I'm so happy with the finished product.

Yes, I know it looks pretty green right here, but I promise it has the faintest tint of blue in it. I blame the crappy iPhone picture for the color misrepresentation. Hopefully I can find my camera cord soon.

The best part is, it was soooo incredibly cheap.

I'm re-doing my life...

And starting with my kitchen. Baby steps...

As I mentioned earlier, I'm kind of obsessed with re-decorating my house. I don't need to do much to the kitchen. I just need to paint the walls and my new/old table and chairs.

My parents recently decided to get rid of their breakfast nook furniture, I didn't necessarily need a new table and chairs, but my parents real wood table and chairs sounded so much nicer than my cardboard Wal-Mart set (found here) I loved the set when I got it, and it is still in wonderful shape. I'm just going in a new direction these days...

Poladroid

I found this website called Poladroid, it allows you to take your digital photos and turn them into Polaroids. You just download the software, open it up, then there will be a little Polaroid on your screen, you then find a favorite picture, drag and drop it on the camera, with in seconds out pops your new Polaroid. You even have to wait for the image to show up, just like the old days.

I love how it changes the brand new photo color into a vintagey polaroid color. Here are a few of my favorites...

Proof that I can cook...

OK I'm no chef. I won't even try to pretend to be. I am very picky about what I eat and even more picky about what I cook. For instance, I will eat chicken occasionally. Would I cook it? Um... not a chance!

Also, Max is allergic to milk. Do you know how hard it is to cook for a picky vegetarian and a picky little boy who can't have anything with milk in it? It is REALLY hard!

Lately though I've been trying to save money and eat healthier so I've started cooking at home more. One of my favorites right now is Vegetarian Chili.

Ingredients

1 can black beans, drained and rinsed
1 can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
1 can pinto beans, drained and rinsed
1 can vegetarian baked beans
1 small can on tomato paste
1 can of "Chili Ready" Rotel
1 can whole kernel corn, drained
1 onion, chopped
1 bell pepper, chopped (I used a half of an orange one and a half of a green one, for color more than anything)
1 zucchini, chopped
2 stalks celery, chopped
2 large carrots, chopped
2 garlic cloves, chopped
1 package of chili powder
1 tablespoon dried parsley
1 tablespoon dried oregano
1 tablespoon dried basil

Directions

In a saucepan, saute the onion, bell pepper, zucchini, carrots and celery for about 5 minutes.

In a slow cooker, combine black beans, kidney beans, pinto beans, baked beans, tomato paste, Rotel, corn, onion, bell pepper, zucchini, carrots, and celery.

Season with garlic, chili powder, parsley, oregano, basil.

Cook for about 6 hours on low.

Serve with tortillas, cornbread, rice, or French bread.

I got this recipe from here but the one above was modified to my own liking. Both Max and I love this chili. I like to put shredded cheese and sour cream on top of mine and eat it with tortilla chips. Yum! Also, this serves oh, about nine million people so be prepared to freeze your leftovers. Let me know what you think!

Personal Color Profile

As I mentioned yesterday, I am currently obsessed with decorating my home. Today I found my personal color profile by taking a quick little quiz on the Pratt and Lambert website.

Turns out my color profile is "Shades of Pale."

A delicious, appealing environment is achieved using these light hues and tints. They are soft, relaxing colors that are also inviting and calming. The person who desires this palette chooses a pale wall color with confidence and not by default. They prefer versatility and modernity. Their belongings have importance and will be prominent in the decorationg scheme.

The shocking thing is, the quiz got me right! I'm dying to paint my kitchen right now, I want it to be either a light blueish-grey (Gosling) or light green (Garden Dream.) Thoughts?

I'm 25 today...

Today is my birthday. I am 25 years old and not really thrilled at the thought of being a quarter of a century old. To make myself feel a little better I've decided to gift myself with blogging again. I haven't blogged in almost 2 years. So much has changed since then, yet so much is still the same. I like to tell myself I have my life straightened out, but I'm just not sure if it will ever happen. I'm actually, kind of, OK with that now though.

So here is what's new:
- I have a great job as a legal assistant/IP paralegal.
- I have to dress "corporate" now, no more jeans and flip flops for this girl.
- I have a wonderful home closer to my family.
- I'm currently obsessed with fixing up my new (well, newish) house.
- My baby boy is now a rambunctious young man.

And here is what's the same:
- Still single. Boo.
- Still love clothes, shoes, accessories. I can't get enough of fashion.
- Still love Gossip Girl, but I have a few new favorites as well.

Pinkish/Coraly dress from Forever 21. It was on sale for $11.50. It is simple, but I dressed it up with green jewelry (for St.Patrick's Day) and a white blazer style jacket.

HATING...

I absolutely cannot stand galdiator sandals. Iiick. Why would you wear flats, with straps that cut your legs and feet into all different sections and make you look short and dumpy? There are much prettier options out there. Even the supermodels and superstars can't pull these off. Sorry to those of you who like them, but please just for me, throw them away!

America's Next Top Model kicked off it's 10th season last night. I always love the show. This year is no different so far. Last night though I was completely shocked... I mean jaw on the floor shocked, when Kimberly dropped out of the show. Why? you ask. Because she didn't want to wear the high fashion clothes!!!!!! WTF??? She thinks it is stupid to spend thousands of dollars on clothes. OK I kind of agree, BUT if I had the chance to wear them for a living... who wouldn't do that? I just think she is crazy and had to see what you all think.

Crazy Kim. She was cute, a little to sugary for me. But geez, what was she thinking?

Enough about the past, on to the future... who do you think is going to win? I really like the "plus sized" model. Who looks normal sized to me, she has one of the best faces in the group. I don't know if she could pull off high-fashion though. My favorite is Katarzyna. She is SO gorgeous.

I told you last night that I was working hard on a couple of projects for school. One is compiling my portfolio. Thing is a TON of the stuff I did 4 years ago was really bad. My job last night was to re-do some old stuff. I really like how most of it turned out.

Here is a cocktail dress that was inspired by the Brighton Royal Pavillion. I know you can hardly see it but the fabric is a gorgeous golden paisley. I love it.

I lied. I guess I'm done working on school stuff tonight. After a quick pit stop at JustJared (see prrevious post) I found myself at style.com, where I find most of my inspiration. My favorite blogger the Sartorialist does a daily thing for style.com and I found these looks.

I love the all black look. I used to have to wear head to toe black for work and I hated it. I thought it was too goth. Now, I love it. I wear too much black. If I'm stumped as to what to wear my "old faithful" outfit is a black turtleneck, skinnies and black ballet flats. Boring, yes I know. But always chic. However, not quite as chic as the ladies above. Damnit.

Ok so he's already married. But maybe if he won't marry me, he will at least dress me? The Fall '08 line from Micheal Kors is AMAZING!!! I'm totally obsessed. These clothes are clothes that the leading lady in a Hitchcock movie would wear. These clothes are classy and lady like and sexy. I want them all. Here are a few of my favs. I know some of you will hate me for this, but I love fur. LOVE it. I don't even eat meat, but I love fur. It is just so luxe and warm and how hot is she, in this fur coat? Also look at the curves that dress gives the model. You know models these days are not curvy, but she looks curvy, ahhh the power of clothes.

I love the tulle bustle. It is such a contrast with the shiny sequins on the dress.

When I marry Michael, this is what I'll wear.

trendy? That is the question. I envy those who can be fashion forward, look good and still be carefree. I wish I could wear some of the crazy outfits I see women wearing with confidence. The thing is I will never be a trendsetter. I don't think I really want to be trendy I just want to look good. If I could look good in something like this...

I would wear it. I love her purple boots. Would I ever have the guts to wear them with patterned tights and a nude asymmetrical dress, no? If I were to EVER wear purple boots, it would be with black leggings and a black turtleneck. Instead of trying to be trendy I have decided to be classic. Classics are classic for a reason, because they look good. I could wear something like this...and be completely comfortable. In fact I would probablly strut, because I would feel good. That's what it's all about, feeling good in what you wear. That doesn't mean I'm promoting sweats, but if you feel sexy in sweatpants and a tee shirt, then by all means, don't let others make you feel bad about it.

My Valentine would know that I'd rather have tulips than roses. And he would have them waiting for me when I woke up. During dinner, the one he made me, or ordered out, I don't really care, he would give me this ring from Tiffany & Co.

After dinner he would give me pajamas, cute sexy ones, not lingerie. Give me pajamas and you are more likely to get sex than if you gave me lingerie. When you get lingerie you feel all pressured to be hot and sexy. In pj's you can be yourself, which is hot and sexy. I like these from Victoria's Secret.

A hot pink tank top from Gap. I've had it since I was a freshman in highschool.

Skinny black patent leather belt at my waist.

Same old grey suede purse I've been carrying all winter. I really need a new purse.

I didn't say it was revolutionary, just springy and colorful. Which is big for me, I wear mostly black, grey or brown. So purple with pink is HUGE!!

44 Days till Spring

I'm very excited. I just found out there are 44 days till spring. Isn't that awesome? It is a little over a month away. I love spring. I can't wait. My guess is we Kentuckians will have to wait a little longer but hopefully not too long. I want to look my best when spring comes along, so I think I need these things from JCrew.

How awesome is this dress? It is sexy and sweet all at the same time. I LOVE it.

I love Polka Dots as much as almost anything else in this world. I wore a polka dot dress to my prom. I have a polka dot purse. My dog has a polka dot collar. I already have polka dot shoes, but they are little ones, so I need these!

I'm not normally a fan of metallics, but this is just beautiful.

Isn't this paisley jacket perfection with this top and these shorts? I love it.

I need a new purse. So I think I need this one. It comes in white too. I think it would get dirty really fast though. Now... does anyone have the millions I would need to buy all this?

I'm taking a leave of absence. Don't worry, it's not for long though. I won't be on for awhile because poor Max is getting ear tubes put in his ears. The surgery is tomorrow morning. The doctor said it won't take long for him to recover and that it's really not a big deal. But... I'm nervous.
Just to show you that I'm not the only one in love with fashion in my family. Max likes to wear his winter hat & gloves with his diaper. So high fashion!

I bought this jacket at Forever 21 today. I just fell in love with it. I know it kind of looks old ladyish but I still like it. Problem is I'm not sure what to wear with it. When I originally bought it I was thinking I would wear it with black skinny jeans, a black tee underneath, and black heels. But, since I've tried it on, I think it may be too sweet. I don't think even black skinny jeans could toughen this jacket up. Any ideas?

I found this pic at elle.com. It is a Chanel SS 08 jacket. It reminded me of the jacket I just bought. I REALLY don't like how Karl paired it with that awful skirt. So it didn't really give many help help like I'd first thought. I do know that I will not wear my new jacket with a drapey, parted down the middle, mini skirt.

I love fashion. Fashion encompasses every aspect of my life. The thing is... I can't afford high fashion. I can't afford Chanel or Oscar de la Renta, unfortunately. I'm on a Target and Old Navy budget, sometimes not even that. This is why I've become very interested in vintage shopping. Some of my favorite blogs are by thrifty girls. Painfully Hip is dedicated to all things cheap and cute. I stumbled upon and vintage website called theURBANcollection. It has designer vintage clothing, accessories, and even home decor. Here are a few of my favorites.

How cute is this hat from the 50's? I wish people got dresses up to go to the grocery store like they did in the 50's. I want to wear this hat, a little black dress, red lipstick and heels to Wal-Mart.

I love this skirt. It is adorable with that striped shirt and red belt. I love it!

The website called this NYC Office Chic. I love the highwaisted skirt and the printed blouse.

I really am thinking about buying this necklace. I love it. It is just so cute.

Dive into Color

Not only did Pantone announce the color of the year, Blue Iris, (see the post below for more) they also announced the color palette of 2008. Here they are.
I personally am particularly in love with Spring Crocus and Silver Grey. Wouldn't they make a fabulous combo? There are a lot of pastels, I'm picturing pretty, floaty and floral. What do you think? Blue Iris

Pantone has selected it's pick for color of the year. The winner is... Blue Iris. Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute® explains the pick, "As a reflection of the times, Blue Iris brings together the dependable aspect of blue, underscored by a strong, soul-searching purple cast. Emotionally, it is anchoring and meditative with a touch of magic. Look for it artfully combined with deeper plums, red-browns, yellow-greens, grapes and grays."

I have a feeling the color forecasters must have taken a trip to Lexington. Because to me it is UK blue? Am I wrong?

It may be a bit more purple than UK blue. This to me is not a a surprising color, or a bold color, or even a new color it is UK blue. I guess that is what happens when you grow up in Lexington. Blue Iris is turned into UK blue and all of that money spent on a textiles degree is flushed down the toilet. Go cats!!

Blackwell's Best Dressed

Just as Mr. Blackwell hates on the fugly dressers of the world he sings praises for the best dressers. For his best dressed list Blackwell chose classy, timeless ladies. I totally agree with almost everyone on this list. So here we go...

1) Reese WitherspoonI love her. Always have, always will (I think.) She has never failed to look classy and gorgeous. Plus she has my heart a.k.a. Jake Gyllenhal. How cute are they? They need to get married and make millions of gorgeous babies.

2) Jemima Khan... who?

I guess she is best known for dressing well and dating Hugh Grant. I mean she looks good in this dress but I googled her and didn't find anything truly amazing about her choice of clothing. Ahh to be rich and have a famous boyfriend.

3) Beyonce

I can't stand Beyonce. Sorry Mr. Blackwell you are wrong. She rarely dresses well. It took me 30 minutes to find a picture of her where I actually like what she was wearing. I do like this dress and she looks rather classy in it (for once.) Normally though her boobs or butt are hanging out and she just isn't as gorgeous as she thinks. Was that too harsh? Maybe so but this is my blog, I can say what I want, right?

4) Angelina Jolie

We all know she's gorgeous. As much as I try to hate her, for stealing Brad from Jen, I can't. How can you hate a woman who looks so good, dresses so well, and does so much good for others. I want to be her when I grow up.

5) Helen Mirren

When I first saw her name on the list, I giggled a little. She is kind of old. Then I started looking for pictures and I realized she is beautiful and looks amazing. I think she's in her 60's. I hope I look that good when I'm that old.

6) Nicole Kidman

Even though she looks like a wax figurine of herself... I blame it on too much botox, she does look good. She knows how to dress too. This was one of my favorite dresses of last year. She just looks stunning. I wish she had pulled her hair back though so you could see the bow without being distracted.

7) Katie Holmes

Ahhh, perfection. She just looks gorgeous. I love everything she wears. People say I look like her, I used to think they were crazy untill I saw a Glamour Magazine cover. Now I just take it as a compliment.

8) Kate Middleton

Who doesn't love a girl who can look as good in jeans and a sweater as she does in a ball gown. In case you don't recognize her she is the on again off again girlfriends of Prince William. Lucky girl!

I think she may be the classiest most elegant woman ever. Well at least since Grace Kelley. I don't think I've ever seen a movie with her in it but I do always notice her on the red carpet. She is just so dainty and strong all at the same time.

Blackwell's Worst Dressed

Every year Mr. Blackwell compiles a list of the worst dressed celebrities. Normally I don't agree with him because he doesn't like it when women are fashion forward. He isn't open to new ideas, shapes or colors. This year is just like any other... I don't agree with him Mr. Blackwell, but some of these people really do need a stylist. So here is the list...

1) Victoria Beckham

Ok. Sometimes I agree with Blackwell. She is over the top. The above outfit is outrageous. But, she is fashion forward, she's not afraid to try anything. Should the fearlessness she has really be judged? I think not.

2) Amy Winehouse

I totally agree with Blackwell on this. This girl is trash. She dresses like trash. She acts like trash. Go to rehab already. Gain some weight. Lose the beehive.

3) Mary Kate Olsen

I think I agree with Blackwell on this one too. I mean it's hard for me because she looks gorgeous even when she does dress like a bag lady. But seriously, that looks been done for a couple of years now. It's time to move on.

4) Fergie

Once again I pretty much agree. I will give the girl credit for trying to step it up lately though. She looked gorgeous at the Christmas Concert for the president thing. It wasn't anything amazing but she looked classy, not like this.

5) Kelly Clarkson

Oh Kelly.... what were you thinking? I know she went through a lot this year, fighting with Clive and everything, but geez. She needs some help. She needs to fire her stylist, and possibly hire me?

6) Eva Green, She was the latest Bond girl. Don't really know who she is. So don't really care how badly she dresses.
7) Avril Lavigne, we all know she dresses bad. It's part of her act though. She's too bad ass to care what she looks like... or so she thinks.
8) Jessica Simpson, once again we all know she's pretty bad. Sometimes though she pulls of a glamorous jaw dropping outfit.
9)Lindsay Lohan, I can't say she necessarily dress badly, she is just obsessed with leggings. Do you think she owns millions upon millions of pairs of leggings? She was disappointing this year compared to previous years though. She used to dress so pretty, that is before she was a coke head and went to rehab and weekly AA meetings.
10) Allison Arngrim, have NO clue who she is. Did he just pick some average girl off the streets and put her in the top 10? I'm so confused

My Way Home...

One Tree Hill is back!! Tonight on the CW at 7! I'm really excited. I kind of got bored with last season. I'm so over 25 year olds playing high schoolers. But these previews look amazing! The series has fast forwarded 4 years. The One Tree Hill group is out of college and now they are finally acting their age. Sorry bad pun.

The cast is beautiful, which always makes stuff more interesting. Is anyone else WAY jealous of Sophia Bush? She's gorgeous. I feel kind of bad for the girl though. She married Chad Michael Murray and then he cheated on her after they were only married for like 4 months, and now she has to do a tv show with him.

Speaking of Chad Michael Murray. Did you all see him on Regis and Kelly this morning? Way hot!!! But I'm still mad at him about the whole stupid jerk thing.

I'm finally back. I'm home. I will get to sleep in my own bed tonight. I am so happy. Hope everyone had a Happy New Year! I went out to a friend's and then bar hopping in Lexington. I had a ton of fun. I got to wear my grey tweed dress that I blogged about before. Last time I wore it casual with a turtleneck. For New Year's I wore it with nothing underneath, black tights, and black pumps. Last time I blogged about the dress I was really upset because I didn't have a picture... good news! I found one. I actually have pictures of me in the dress but, I can't find the cord to connect my camera to my computer and I broke my card reader (long story.) So here is the picture off of Forever 21.
Hopefully I'll find my cord and have my pictures up soon!

Sorry I've been absent for soo long. I ran off to North Carolina for the weekend to visit with High School friends. I had a blast.

I heard about this controversy on the radio this morning when I was taking Max to daycare. Apparently Wal-Mart was selling a pair of underwear for Juniors that says, "Who needs credit cards..." on the front, and then, "when you've got Santa?" on the back. There is a feminist website Feministing that opposes the underwear because they say it teaches young girls to sell sex for money. Seriously? I really don't get it. I am all about girl power... woohoo. But I think this is taking it a little far. Wal-Mart pulled the underwear, those pansies! Do you think these underwear are teaching young girls to be prostitutes? Or are you like me and think everyone just needs to calm down already!

The girl rocker talk made me think of Gwen Stefani. She's not as rock n' roll as she was when she was in No Doubt, but I still love her. She has a new video out for the song, "Early Winter." My favorite line from the song, "why do you act so stupid? you know i'm always right." She looks absolutely gorgeous in the video. I so want to be her. I am also loving the all black outfit. I've noticed I'm wearing a TON of black lately, I'm stuck in a black rut and I like it. I just need to think of new ways to wear it, like she does.

My poor little brother is going to be heart broken. He's been in love with her since he was 6. I'm sure the baby will be gorgeous. It must be the new "in" thing to be pregnant. Everyone, from Halle Berry to Christina Aguillera, JLo, Cate Blanchette, who else? I think everyone in Hollywood is.

I NEED the crochet Ugg boots in black. I have to have them. Problem is, they are sold out EVERYWHERE and I don't really have $100 to spend on them. But how cute was pregnant Nicole Richie wearing them?

They were on Oprah's "Favorite Things" show too. I'm not really a fan of Uggs, ok I'll admit they are super comfortable and I do own a pair, but I don't wear them in public, only to walk the dog, but these are cute and I want them. I do like the cream one's up top too, but I like how the black ones look with the black tights. Black is always more slimming too. :)

Anyone have them? Or want them as desperately as I do?

You found out that I want to be a rockstar when I grow up from my tagged post. Now I've become completely obsessed with girl rockers, good ones... not wannabe's. My favortie of the moment is Paramore. It's a band with a girl lead singer. They are from Franklin, TN. Which is right down the road from Bowling Green, so they are kind of like my neighbors. You've probablly all heard their song, "Misery Business" it's all over the place right now. It was even on The Hills season finale. (Which kinda bummed me out by the way. Was anyone else dissapointed?) You can go to mtv.com to watch them perform on TRL. Who are some other girl rockers that are actually good?

What I'm wearing today is not even worth mentioning. BORING!! But yesterday I had a presentation and got all dressed up. I wore:

A gray tweed dress from Forever 21. It has spagetti straps, a sweetheart neckline, and the most amazing details. A bow on the bust, it is cute, I promise. Then the sides have some pleating I guess you would call it, it makes the sides scrunch, but not ruched. Anyway I really wish I had a picture cause it's too hard to explain.

A black turtleneck from Old Navy. It is jersey, has 3/4 sleeves and kept me warm.

Black pumps with a wooden platform and heel, from Payless.

The whole outfit cost about $50. I loved it and wish I could wear stuff like that everyday.

My Christmas Wish List

Christmas is coming up. I'm so excited! I haven't gotten excited about Christmas since I was a little kid. I can't wait to see Max open presents. If you ask him what Santa says he goes, "Hoo, Hoo, Hoo" it's too cute. I have a WAY too long list for someone my age but I thought I'd share a few items. I know I won't get any of them, Mom & Dad think I'm too old for Santa, (since Santa is a grandpa now after all) but it's fun to wish, right?

I've been dying for a black leather strap watch. I really want the one from Tiffany, but this one from Fossil will do too.

I'm a little behind the times when it comes to ipods. I just got one a few months ago. Now I need an iHome. This one is kind of for Max too, he LOVES music. We could turn this on and dance around the house! This one is on sale for $79 at Amazon.

I just got a new camera, right before Disney. It's the new Olympus that can be dropped, thrown under water, taken on the beach, and left out in the snow, without messing up!! I need something to protect it. This red case from the Olympus site would be perfect.

Ever since I was little we got to open one present on Christmas Eve. Every year it was pj's. This year I want it to be THESE pajama's from Victoria's Secret.

What goes better with cute pajamas, but adorable slippers? These are from VS too.

1. I don't eat meat, sometimes I'll eat chicken, but that's not the weird part. I CRAVE hot dogs all the time. But the thought of eating one makes me sick. I got food poisoning twice when I was little from undercooked hot dogs at the ballpark, and I've been ruined ever since.

2. I am addicted to Diet Rite. I started drinking it when I was pregnant because it doesn't have caffeine, it is made with Splenda and has no sodium. It is really gross to everyone but me!

3. Sometimes I wish I were a rockstar. Not like Britney Spears (gag!) A rockstar like in the old days... like Janis Joplin, but skinny and pretty.

4. I enjoy watching little kid shows just as much as Max does. Especially The Backyardigans and The Wonder Pets.

5. My all time favorite movie is "What A Way to Go." It's from the 60's and it is so funny, has beautiful clothes, and an amazing cast. I wish I had been around during that time. If you've never seen it, go buy it or rent it or look for it on tv. You'll love it!

6. I wanted to be an English major. Sometime I still write stories. Maybe one day I will be a famous author and you can all say, "I used to read her blog."

7. I have a son and was engaged. I never thought this is the life I would end up with. I didn't think I would have kids, if I did I certainly didn't think I would be single. I didn't think I even wanted to get married. I thought I would be like Carrie from Sex & the City. Even though this isn't the life I imagined, I'm so happy that this is the life I have.

8. Ok my #7 wasn't all that random and and little sappy so here is a bonus random fact... I think feet are the most disgusting thing ever. If someone puts their feet (especially bare feet) near me I have a sudden urge to vomit. Just thinking about feet while I'm typing this is making me queasy. UGH!!

Sorry I haven't blogged lately, but I was busy having fun in Disney World! My grandparents took my entire family there the day after Thanksgiving. We had so much fun and Max got to meet Mickey Mouse! (his favorite)

It is the year of a million dreams so they decorated Cinderella's castle. I have been to Disney World 5 times and I have never seen the castle look this beautiful. There is a contest you can enter to spend the night there. I am SO going to win that one!

Max's favorite part was meeting the "Little Einsteins" he showed off by doing "blast off." I know the picture is blurry but it was just so darn cute!

My mom scrapbooks on the computer using photoshop. Sometimes she does digital art. The one above is an exmaple of some of the stuff she does. I loved this one, she did it for me because I was giving her a hard time about grocery shopping in her sweats. She has 2 blogs you can go visit if you want to see some more of her stuff. One is an art blog and the other is a scrapbooking blog. She does some pretty coold stuff, and loves to showcase my Max, so I of course love it all! The one below is of Jason and Max. The pictures are from this summer when we went to Hilton Head.

The one below is one of my absolute favorites. The picture is perfect and I love the wings.

If you have photoshop you should try this. It's fun when you have nothing else to do or you are feeling crafty but don't have the skills to do anything by hand.

It's a gloomy, rainy and rather warm November day in Bowling Green. So how are you supposed to dress? Well I figured boots are a must, to keep my feet warm and dry. Then I figured leggings look good under boots, and a tunic looks good over leggings. So here is what I ended up with...

Maroon baby doll tunic, almost dress length, from Forever 21. It has really cute patch pockets on the front and a squircle (square/circle) neckline.

Black leggings

New grey suede boots. Though the rain is starting to come down again and so I don't ruin my boots I think I may switch to my tan ropers.

I would wear this coat from Forever 21 over it. How freaking cute is this? I'd feel like Gwen Stefani. Now all I need is some red lipstick and a Gavin.

These shoes from Piperlime would dress up the whole outfit. They are python (faux) if you can't see. And the peeptoe part is velvet. I love mixing textures. I think a silver clutch would top it all off nicely. SO, who's throwing the New Year's party?

I was a cowgirl today.

I wore dark wash bootcut jeans from Old Navy.

A red plaid button up from I don't remember and I'm too lazy/tired/cranky too look.

A cream cardigan from Express. (My touch of class to keep the oufit current and not too cowgirl.)

My tan ropers, which was a good choice for today because Bowling Green experienced many sudden thunderstorms today and my boots kept my feet nice and dry!

I ordered these boots from Zappos today. They arrived on my doorstep this afternoon. Free overnight shipping... FABULOUS!! Well, I love them. I've wanted them ever since I saw Serena, from Gossip Girl, wearing them with her school uniform. No school uniform for me but I'm sure I will find an equally fabulous outfit to wear them with. Like, maybe my red dress, with a black turtleneck underneath and black tights. Or maybe my black and white striped sweater with black skinny jeans. Or my blue tunic sweater with black leggings. I'm soo excited! Only thing is I now want them in every color, but not the brown, it was weird looking. They come in, black, grey (the ones I have on right now!), the aforementioned brown (iick), sand (they kind of look like indian boots), and the most beautiful blue. I really wanted blue but settled on grey since they can be worn with more stuff.

I saw this on another fashiony blog and I thought it was a good idea to journal what you wore that day. When I was in highschool I used to write down what I wore everyday so I wouldn't repeat an item too quickly. That was back when momma and daddy were footing the clothing bill though. Ok so I've gotten completely off track! Mindless rambles happen often, beware! Here is what I wore today...

-Wide Leg Trouser Jeans from Express in a dark wash, they are too big but I can't afford new ones right now so I wear them anyway. I just walk funny because I have to pull them up every 3 steps.
-Leopard Print Cardigan from Old Navy (sounds tacky but it isn't.... I love leoaprd)
-Brown Tank underneath the cardigan, Old Navy too
-Brown quilted ballet flats from American Eagle, they have a bronzy metallic trim and teensy bow. Not that you could see them due to the ginormosity of the wide leg jeans.

I love how this dress, from Victoria's Secret, can be worn casusal or dressy. You could wear it like this to class or you could throw on some gold heels, and a fancy coat and go out to dinner. LOVE IT!!!

This is from Gap. I love the neck on it. I saw on the news Gap Inc. is in some trouble for sweatshops. So I'm not sure I want to buy from them. I kind of think that all retailers use sweatshops though.

I found these on Zappos. They are by Oh Deer. Never heard of them till now... but I LOVE these shoes. They remind me of a taxi cab.

Fashion Advice

OK so I bought this dress at Forever 21 last week because I fell in love with it.

1)I'm obsessed with gray right now. 2) It has pleating that makes adorable pockets... fashionable and practical. 3) It was only $20. No one can pass up a deal that good one a dress that cute.

Now the dress is hanging in my closet... enter problem. What do I wear it with? Should I find a sweater to go over it? What color shoes do I wear? It's getting cold, do I wear tights and if so what color? SO many questions and not a clue as to what I should do.

My original thought was to wear a navy cotton turtleneck under it, you know to stay warm. But I tried it and it looked awful. I also thought about finding a red oversize cardigan to wear over it. Then I could wear red shoes too. I would like to find a way to make it casual enough to wear to class. And if I ever have someplace to wear it dressy I would like to know what kind of shoes to wear.

I was thinking maybe this in red? It is from Victoria's Secret and they have it in a TON of colors for only $49.

If I do the red cardigan maybe I could do some fun ballet flats like these (the red ones.) These are from Victoria's Secret as well. They are $90 so I think I will be on the lookout for something similar at a cheaper price.

Have you guys seen the commercial with Gwen Stefani for HP? It's a pretty cool commercial, with the pictures floating around everywhere. You can check it out on the HP website. You can also go there and create fun projects designed by Gwen Stefani. One of the things you can do is turn you entourage into Harajuku Girls. It's basically paper dolls digitized and with a Gwen twist.

I'm sure you've all seen the movie. This is actually one case where I think I may have liked the movie more than the book. I think this is because the book is a little more mean than the movie. If you are in the mood for a few good catfights though, read this one.

9. Hypocrite in a Poufy, White Dress

This one may actually be a 2 day read. It isn't quite as shallow as most chick lit books either. This is actually a memoir. It is a coming of age story about the woman we all are, just sometimes scared to admit.

8. Conffessions of a Shopaholic
By: Sophie Kinsella
I'll admit I had to start this one twice. It starts off pretty slow, but if you keep with it, you will love it.

7. Innocence
By: Kathleen Tessaro
I bought this because I'd read another book by the same author (which you'll learn about later on in the list.) It is completely different than the other book. But it still kept me interested. This is one that will make you teary-eyed though... be warned!

6. Debutante Divorce
By: Plum Skyes
How awesome is the author's name? Anyway this one is too cute, I seriously read it in about 3 hours because I couldn't put it down. Take this one to the beach, you'll leave giddy (it's terribly sappy) and my guess is pretty tan too!

5. The Notebook
By: Nicholas Sparks
Die hard Nicholas Sparks fans would shoot me for calling this Chick Lit, but c'mon can you get any more girly than The Notebook? We've all seen the movie (if not you HAVE to check it out) but it's another one of those in which you have to read the book for it to be that much more. Make sure you have a box of Kleenex close by though... you will cry!

4. Elegance

This is the same lady who wrote "Innocence," number 7. If you only have time to read one of her books. Read this one. It is a coming of age story but in a much more adult version than Innocence.

3. Everyone Worth Knowing
By: Laura Weisberger
This is the same lady who wrote "The Devil Wears Prada." This book is 10 times better in my opinion though. It is much funnier and not soo mean.

2. Bergdorf Blondes

OK so I like to repeat authors, but if you like one book then won't you like the next? This one is one of those bust a gut books. Some parts are hillarious while others will pull at your heart strings.

1. The Second Assistant
By: Clare Naylor
This is the funniest of the 10 books by far. It is a quick read and won't make you cry at all. Loved it!

I have another number 1 too, this book is not chick lit though. My absolute favorite book of all time is...
The Time Traveler's Wife
By: Audrey Niffenegger.
This is NOT a one day read. This is the kind of book you lose yourself in. I honestly had dreams about this book. They are making a movie out of it which I'm so excited about.

Polyvore also has a Facebook application. This means you can add the polyvore application and then your sets will show up on your profile. That way all your friends can see what you like, and if they like it too they will be able to click on an item and find out where they can get it. Pretty freakin' awesome if you ask me!

My Dad... yes my Dad sent me the link to this new webiste. Polyvore it is like paper dolls for big kids. Well that makes is sound like a game and it is so much more than a game. You get on this site and you get to make a "set." A set is a group of clothes, accessories, and even housewares that you think go together. Once you have your set you can save it or even embed it in your own website or blog. Like I've done here.

You can click on each individual item and it will take you to the designers or sellers site. Polyvore eventually gets a cut for each sale, which I don't know if it's exactly fair since I'm the one showing you that freaking amazing dress, but how fun is this? Check it out and show me some of your sets. Have fun!

The Sartorialist is an awesome blog. This photographer goes out and takes pictures of people he thinks are fashionable. Sometimes he is in Paris, (like right now, for Fashion Week) other times in New York he goes everywhere. I want his job. Even more I want to be one of these people he photographs. They all just look so cool and put together without being fussy. I love it. Check out this coat. How could you not love it?

I want to look this carefree and beautiful everyday....

He adds a few everyday. So check it out whenever you need some fashion inspiration.

If I were a supermodel....

Sometimes I wish I was a supermodel, or even an actress. Just so I could get dressed up in super fancy, super trendy clothes and not get the "evil eye" from every passer by. If I were a supermodel I would get to wear crazy fashions that I'm totally in love with, like... feathers!

This is an amazing cocktail dress by Bill Blass. The skirt of the dress is made of FEATHERS!! How awesome is that? I love it. If I were a supermodel I would wear this to sip cocktails with Gwen Stefani at some hip L.A. club, like dolce. That is if I were a supermodel.

This super cute dress is a Malandrino creation. I love the color, I mean if you are going to wear feathers something should be subtle. I don't want to be a Christina Aguilera at the VMA's circa 2003. I want to be a supermodel in Paris sightseeing with my hunky, actor boyfriend; wearing this dress.

Well until I grow 6 inches, lose 30 pounds and become famous I can just dream and keep checking out the Fall 2007 trends at style.com. So if I'm not going to be a supermodel I'm thinking maybe I can try some of the other trends. For instance, chunky knits.

This is Stella McCartney. I love how it looks like she just rolled out of bed, threw on some heels and looked gorgeous. Maybe even if I'm not a supermodel I can pull off the chunky knit trend.

New Job?

So over the summer I took a class called "Apparel Design Management" I made an outfit. We had to use a pattern so I didn't get to be too creative. I still thought it was cute though. A pencil skirt can be worn with any top and a pair of heels and it is instant sex kitten. The jacket would be cute with jeans too, for a more casual look.

To market the outfit we had to make a mood board and a concept board. This is the part I REALLY enjoyed. We created these in photoshop. The mood board is supposed to show your inspiration for the garment and the mood you want to convey. My inspiration was "Old Hollywood Glamour." The mood I wanted to convey was Old Hollywood with a twist, that's why I colored her lips bright red.

The concept board shows how you want to market the garment. It is supposed to show your sketch or sketches for the garment, along with the finished product and color swatches. I wanted to market the garment as Old Hollywood for The Twenty First Century Business Woman.

I really loved this class. I was sort of thinking that this is what I might want to do with my career. The only thing is I think I may have had to chosen a marketing major for this. I guess I need to find an awesome internship with a designer!

I am totally obsessed with Bluefly. You've all seen those commercials where the girls end up naked at the party because they can't find anything to wear. Well Bluefly is the solution. They have designer clothes at reasoable prices. I'm a college student and a single mom... I'm lucky if I can afford Wal-Mart clothes right now. But I still love to "window shop." I think I'm going to start saving some money now so I can by myself something special for Christmas. Like maybe one of these...

Gossip Girl

So has anyone else checked out the new show Gossip Girl? It comes on the CW Wednesdays @ 9 (8 central.) It is really good! There have only been 2 episodes and I'm already hooked. The boys aren't bad on the eyes either. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Rise Over Run Magazine

I just found this online magazine called Rise Over Run. This is a magazine written for and by WKU students. It is really amzing. It is a little quirky, bust your gut funny, and a teensy bit informative. The pictures are amazing and the wrtiting is perfect. If you go visit the site check out the column "Pussy Control." It's not as vulgar as it sounds and seriously almost made me pee my pants it was so funny. Let me know what you think!

Children's Aid Missions International

I'm taking a management class as a requirement for my major. I thought it was going to be a major bore, but we are doing this really amazing project. We are teaming up with this charity, Children's Aid Missions International and helping them in a million different ways. My group is trying to get toy donations for children is Guatemala. The children are what this organization is all about. This group goes to different countries in need and performs surgeries on the children at no cost. Deformities in Guatemala are seen as disabilities, even when they are not. So this group goes down there to save these kids from poverty, anguish and possibly death.
